總結:Although inseparable from Russia, Siberia is above all the homeland of a multitude of people who have lived there for thousands of years (the Russians only arrived in Siberia in the 16th century.) While a Siberian regional identity has existed since the 17th century, the emergence of a Siberian identity and civilization only occurred at the end of the 19th century, and continues to develop to this day. The process of mutual adaptation and assimilation, which took place not without conflict, provides – especially for today’s world of globalisation and migration – an example of how different peoples can get along, learn from each other, and eventually even arrive at a common identity.
