Sumario: | Among the cardinal virtues (prudence, justice, fortitude and temperance,) justice is the only one currently being investigated by philosophical reflection, thanks mainly to the so-called «neo-contractualist» current, which was born as an attempt to present the issue leaving aside a metaphysical and religious perspective. This attempt, although motivated by noteworthy motivations, nevertheless poses a series of serious contradictions that make its implementation problematic. Some of these are highlighted in this article, which mainly result from the separation of justice from the other cardinal virtues, from a more general metaphysical conception of goodness and being, and from its relationship with the theme of truth. |
