Description
Summary:In his speech on June 21, 2019, in Naples, at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy, Pope Francis encouraged the elaboration of a Mediterranean theology. In the spirit of Veritatis gaudium and Laudato si’, this article considers the Mediterranean, commencing with the olive tree, which plays a distinctive role in its landscape, social life and religious heritage. In «its way of being in the world and composing with space and time» (J. Tassin,) the olive tree gives Mediterranean religions and cultures a blessed surplus of sweetness.
