This is where Manzoni’s Christianity was born, as was his trust in Providence, and the poetry of grace. In addition, it gave birth, unpredictably, to a movement that would lead to a new and united Italy. After the uprisings of 1848, a group of university students acclaimed Manzoni because he had given impetus to the unification of Italy. | ||
