Summary: | Islamic religious education is an increasingly common subject in German schools. There is hope that this subject could, like Christian religious education, become a normal part of German primary and secondary education. This in turn would create completely new opportunities for interreligious interaction. Instead of interreligious encounters occurring by chance, they could be facilitated as a normal part of the curriculum. This article examines the experiences of the 2017 and 2018 Interreligious Study Days to reflect on practice and put those reflections into practice. It calls for recognition of the need for interreligious engagement within schools, as well as during teacher training |
