| Resumo: | Many people with disabilities realize the dream of community integration. However, much work needs to be done to ensure that people with disabilities have access and inclusion in all aspects of community life. This study examines the current physical and attitudinal accessibility of religiouscongregations for people with disabilities. Responses to questionnaires from a stratified random sample of congregations assessed self-reported accessibility. Of those contacted, 91 congregations met the study criteria. Results from this study indicated that congregations are increasing access to worship, but that systematic changes had not yet begun. Also, we found that size of the congregations was an important factor in determining accessibility for people with disabilities. |
