| Summary: | The Pontifical Biblical Commission's document The Interpretation of the Bible in the Church (IBC) details interpretive methods which the Roman Catholic exegete should use in the study of Biblical texts. This article highlights the IBC's description and assesses its conclusions regarding Inculturation. As the section on inculturation is quite short and lacking in examples, this article also offers an instructive example from Vietnam of the incorporation of elements of Confucian ancestor veneration into the Vietnamese liturgy. Le document L'interprétation de la Bible dans l'Église (IBÉ) de la Commission Biblique Pontificale s'intéresse, de manière très detaillée, aux les méthodes que l'exégète doit utiliser dans l'étude des textes bibliques. Cet article s'arrête à ce que le document dit au sujet de l'inculturation. Puisque la section sur l'inculturation est assez courte, cet article offre également un exemple en provenance du Vietnam: l'incorporation d'éléments de vénération des ancêtres confucéens dans la liturgie vietnamienne. |
