Description
Summary:The Pontifical Biblical Commission's document The Interpretation of the Bible in the Church (IBC) details interpretive methods which the Roman Catholic exegete should use in the study of Biblical texts. This article highlights the IBC's description and assesses its conclusions regarding the interpretation of Scripture in the tradition of the Church, which has as its focus the role of the biblical canon, Patristic exegesis, and the roles of various members of the Church in the interpretation of Scripture.
