Summary: | Basilio Petrà, an expert on Greek Orthodox moral theology, deals with a subject of great interest today as the Catholic Church is looking for pastoral solutions to the forthcoming General Synod of Bishops scheduled to be held in Vatican in October 2015. Irregular marriage unions have increased and multiplied enormously. Divorce and second or third marriages have become frequent in contemporary society creating a serious pastoral problem for the Church. In this context the article presents and discusses two of Petra's recent books which complete each other. They draw attention to the solutions found already in the tradition of the undivided Church and are still preserved in the Greek East. Ex oriente lux: Light from the East. |
