Summary:The article reflects on the figure of order functioning in the canonical legal system. The author proves that in the canonical system the basic source of order is al legal act. By introducing an act, the legislator lays some obligations upon ist adressees. From the perspective of the research carried out for the purpose of the article, two categories of acts, i.e. commanding and prohibitive acts, are of particular importance due to their imperative nature. These types of acts determine the means of realization of the obligation laid upon the adressees of an act
