| Summary: | This study presents some apects of public behavior of Spanish society as they appear in medieval synods edited in the first twelve volumes of Synodicon hispanum. The body of the study contains two parts. The first part deals with some morally praiseworthy behaviour, such as the veneration of the Eucharist, devotion to the Virgin Mary and the saints, some special attention to the poor, the teaching of Christian doctrine, organization of parish shools in to teach children reading and writing to, and the cleanliness of the churches. The second part, more extensive, refers to some morally reprehensible behavior. These recommendations to get orders and benefits, some new Masses abuses and grave abuses in the takeover benefits, especially for those with expectations, and the residence of the benefits mentioned. With special attention Synods explain the laudable institution of visiting parishes oriented to encourage faith and to correct defects, but sometimes visitors came to commit many more reprehensible abuses all vidited. With special attention refers to the right of asylum in churches and numerous abuses of the refugees, who often had to be expelled from the churches discussed. In a brief comment referred to usury, concubinage, crying for the dead, disabled marriages, tithes and abuse in court.
