| Summary: | "A nun, an only child, in solemn profession in a sui iuris monastery was granted permission to live apart from the monastery for three months by the diocesan bishop where the monastery was located to take care of her ill mother in accord with the instruction Verbi Sponsa 17 §2 of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (CICLSAL). The nun's mother became critical and was placed on oxygen and other life sustaining supports. CICLSAL extended the permission to live apart from the monastery to the nun for one year. Since her mother continued in the critical condition at the end of the year, the superior of the monastery petitioned CICLSAL for a second extension of the permission." |
