Summary: | Universal Declaration of Human Rights: Context, Assessment, Fundamentals - The contribution provides an overview of the "Universal declaration of human rights" in his historical and cultural context. Whereas the previous Charts had been developed within a framework of moral, religious and rational values as their expression and protection, a context of extreme moral decay was the breeding ground of the "Universal declaration of human rights". After the original context of the Declaration has been retraced, the contribute pesents the fundamental pillars of human rights: rights of the individual, rights of the individual in his relations with reference social groups, political rights, social and cultural rights. Following an evaluation of the positive and negative aspects of the Declaration the contribution focuses on the fundamentals of human rights which can be properly understood only in the context of the dignity of the individual. Nevertheless, due to the lack of this foundation, the Chart fell short of expectations because of the prevalence of a positivist and not human dignity-centered approach |
