Summary: | Canonical age for presbyterate and diaconate and dispensation up to 18 months - After an introductory analysis of the age requirements to lawfully receive the sacrament of order and the dispensation that can be granted by the diocesan bishop, the article presents the case of the dispensation of more than one year reserved to the Holy See. Then the article examines the notification "E' noto che" on the dispensation from defect of age for Candidates for Holy Order issued by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Dicipline of the Sacraments (24th July, 1997), which has de facto limites the possibility of obtaining such dispensation. Moreover, the author focuses on the Motu Proprio "Cum Admotae" (6th November 1964) which grants special faculties to the major superiors of clerical Institutes of Pontifical Right to dispense his own subjects candidates for sacred orders from age requirements. Lastly, the article analyzes the Special faculty granted to the Congregation for the Evangelization of People concededby Pope Benedict XVI on the 20th april 2005 which grants special faculties regarding the defect of age |
