Then he deals with the theological foundations of canon law and highlights the contribution given by juridical-canonical speculation to modern culture as well as the risk undergone by the Church to uncritically assimilate some modern juridical and philosophical principles (Particulary with reference to the idea of code and custom as well as of the principle of legality).
