| Resumo: | In our diocese the public relations people want to notify the media immediately of every denunciation of sexual abuse of a minor by a cleric, lest the Church be accused of a cover-up in order to protect a priest and of exposing innocent children to a sexual predator. However, the diocesan canonist has pointed out that according to the procedural norms promulgated by Pope John Paul II, "Cases of this nature are subject to the pontifical secret" ( art. 25, §1). |
