Description
Summary:Considering that the legendary of Fr. Diogo do Rosário, the first after Trent, proposes to distinguish itself from the previous legendaries in Portuguese and to put into practice the precepts of the Council, and considering the function, on the one hand, realistic and on the other hand symbolic, marvelous and mythographic of the sea in medieval hagiography, one intends to know whether the function of the sea in the new legendary continues the medieval tradition or whether it deviates from it, obeying either a modernity that, in Portugal, already counts on a century of maritime expansion, or a new reformist religiosity.
