| Summary: | Constantly and correctly holding together Christology (Christ in himself) and soteriology (Christ for us and for the world), Professor Kim, who has a PhD from the University of Edinburgh and teaches at Youngnam Theological University and Seminary, South Korea, first treats the classical topics that emerge from the Bible and the early church councils. He then aims to present an understanding of Christ that meets the challenges of our times—namely, a cosmic Christology. He shows how a Spirit Christology, properly developed, maintains the unique incarnation and finality of the revelation of Jesus. Here, like many others, he uses the inaccurate terminology of ‘virgin birth’; what Matthew, Luke, and the Christian tradition witness to is a virginal conception through the power of the Spirit. |
