Summary:The article reflects the history of the international College of the Canisianum. Despite the close connection of the Canisianum with the Theological Faculty of the University of Innsbruck, there were right from its beginning certain original traits in the way of training its students in higher education. Thus, in the struggle for this education the Canisianum played also an academic role. The College, in facing contemporary tasks, claims to remain a reliable institution in service of the church.
