Description
Summary:In Western societies, an obsessive search for independence has led to a profound loneliness. This increasingly widespread human condition cannot be ignored by theology, which feels stimulated to rethink and re-propose the theme of Christian solitude. The aim of this paper is to highlight its travail and its style: the travail, because faith does not exempt the Christian from experiences of loneliness, even radical loneliness, and the style is what we learn by looking at Jesus and his Gospel. From him one learns a solitude capable of opening up to intimacy with oneself and with the divine, destined to generate authentic human and ecclesial relationships, capable of overcoming the sterile and painful isolation from which man suffers.
