| Summary: | This article aims to clarify concepts and terms regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) and to take stock of the many existing applications of the new technology in everyday life, so much so that we believed that the name should also be used in the plural. Two main groups of AI terms will be mentioned: the theoretical principles that guide its development, and the digital technological tools that support it. The economic and social sectors of application will be highlighted, to underline some potentialities of AI. The importance of governance and quality will be emphasized in this new field which presents a new factor: the possible autonomy of software and machines, compared to the slavish execution of tasks of the first phase of IT.
