Summary: | Theological explorations of relativistic physics are typically preoccupied by the consequences of relativistic cosmology, such as the Big Bang theory, the universe's apparent fine-tuning, and eschatology. However, there are also fruitful connections between theology and the physical theory of relativity itself, considered apart from cosmological applications. Indeed, relativistic physics is much more amenable to a created universe than is Newtonian mechanics, or so it is argued. Drawing upon both special and general relativity, three intrinsically relativistic aspects of the Judeo-Christian creation are disclosed: contingency, unity, and beauty. |
