Description
Summary:This article focuses on the contribution of religion and religious education in modern plural societies. The article argues that while the current pedagogy of religion is mainly concerned with religious plurality, it neglects the phenomenon of nonreligiosity. Drawing from three religious thinkers, Dietrich Korsch, Wilhelm Gräb and Friedrich Schleiermacher, the article postulates that religion and religious education can offer religion-free persons an interpretation for their life practices. Religion can do so via its formal structure and material content. However, by offering an interpretation for life practices, religious education does not entail the idea of conversion or proselytization.
