| Summary: | Wenn Papst Franziskus in der Enzyklika „Fratelli tutti“ die aufklärerisch-revolutionäre Trias von „Freiheit, Gleichheit und Brüderlichkeit“ positiv würdigt, so stellt sich die Frage nach dem ursprünglichen Verstehenshorizont und nach der Aneignung und Interpretation jener Begriffe durch Franziskus. Eine Analyse ergibt sowohl gemeinsame Ansatzpunkte als auch unterschiedliche Voraussetzungen, ja sogar Gegensätze im jeweiligen Verständnis. Pope Francis in his social encyclical “Fratelli tutti’’ makes use of the terms of Enlightenment “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité’’, namely liberty, equality, fraternity. The article asks for the original horizon of interpretation in the time of Enlightenment and French revolution and compares this understanding to the vision of Pope Francis. The result shows that there is a greater nearness of “Fratelli tutti” to the traditional social teaching of the Church than to liberal and freemasonic ideas. |
