Description
Summary:What is happening today between the West and Russia is sometimes referred to as a “new Cold War”. We are actually living through “an ice age”. What is the reason for this? Is it just a matter of interests and power claims or are there deeper problems? Do ideological oppositions play a role in this just like in “Cold War” times? The Russian elite’s attempt to strengthen the “traditional values” of family, religion and patriotism has made Russia stand as a kind of counterpoint to the modern value system of the West. In addition, this has to be taken into account if we are to understand the contradictions in Russia itself and in its relations with the West.
