| Summary: | El presente artículo busca contribuir a la historia de la prensa católica en Chile examinando las estrategias editoriales que sustentaron el trabajo de La Estrella de Chile (1867-1878), semanario literario vinculado a la prensa católica chilena. Para ello, identificaremos los lineamientos ideológicos, literarios y comerciales que intervinieron en la configuración del perfil particular de la revista, señalando las tendencias generales que permiten explicar su adscripción a la misión planteada por el periodismo católico de la época - defender la posición de la iglesia ante la secularización de la sociedad - y especificando las características particulares que diferenciaron su actividad en el marco de esta lucha. This article seeks to contribute to the history of the Catholic press in Chile by examining the editorial strategies that supported the work of La Estrella de Chile (1867-1878), a literary weekly linked to the Chilean Catholic press. In order to do this, we will iden-tify the ideological, literary and commercial guidelines that configured the particular profile of the journal, pointing out the gene-ral tendencies that explain its ascription to the mission set forth by the Catholic journalism of the time - defend the position of the church in the face of the secularization of society - and defining the features that differentiated its activity within this process. |
