| Summary: | Nuevas pesquisas practicadas sobre viejos instrumentos archivísticos arrojan respuestas igualmente novedosas. Esta es la situación sobrevenida con los tumbos de los siglos XVI-XVIII elaborados en los monasterios cistercienses del noroeste español. El objetivo inicial estribó en la posibilidad de reconstruir la estructura y funcionamiento de los archivos y las bibliotecas del Císter, de los siglos XII y XIII, mediante el estudio de los tumbos elaborados en los monasterios en siglos posteriores. Las respuestas recibidas de los propios tumbos aquilataron una conclusión inesperada y de importancia puesto que parecen responder a un plan estratégico de prevención de los monasterios cistercienses. New researches about old archival instruments offered equally novel answers. This is the situation with the tumbos of the XVI-XVIII centuries elaborated in the Cistercian monasteries of northwestern Spain. The initial objective was the possibility of recons-tructing the structure and functioning of the Cistercian archives and libraries, from the 12th and 13th centuries, by studying the tumbos elaborated in the monasteries in later centuries. The answers received from the tumbos themselves were an unexpected and important conclusion since they seem to respond to a strategic plan for the prevention of Cistercian monasteries. |
