Description
Summary:The revival of popular piety that the recent Magisterium has proposed requires a theological investigation that seeks to understand the reasons for its pertinence, first of all because the theme is no longer relegated to the relationship with the liturgy alone, but is part of the wider problem of ecclesial reform; secondly because it is marked by a Latin-American imprint that the comparison with the European-western cultural horizon demands to be received in an original way. The contribution addresses the issue by allowing itself to be instructed by some reflections on popular piety that the theological debate has elaborated, and then it goes on to carry out a study of two effective practices and the anthropological and theological dynamics involved in them: devotion to the Sacred Heart and pilgrimage. From the analysis emerges the individuation of the space for the forms of popular piety within the Christian faith, as well as the perspective of some of its pastoral implications. (English)
