| Sumario: | This article articulates a first-person methodology as to how a scholar may develop and internalize a personal spirituality of being a scholar. Drawing on the work of Bernard Lonergan it explores how scholars may seek and find God in the everyday of their academic life by providing an empirical methodology, and thereby contribute to the development of a spirituality of being a scholar. It grounds the dynamics of spirituality in a philosophic process of a concern for authenticity and enacted through a general empirical method of being attentive, being intelligent, being reasonable and being responsible and being in love. This philosophic process is the basis for both scholarly inquiry and spiritual development and provides the ground for the development of theist and theotic viewpoints where transcendental values may underpin scholarship and direct personal action. |
