Tanto a psiquiatria quanto o espiritismo buscavam legitimação de seu espaço cultural, científico e institucional dentro da sociedade brasileira. Esses dois atores sociais defendiam diferentes visões e abordagens terapêuticas relacionadas a questão da mente e da loucura. A resolução desse conflito se relaciona com o alcance de inserção e de legitimação social pelos dois grupos, mas em campos diferentes. | ||
