The Book of Tobit must be read as the continuation of the "Tobiad Romance", in the context of the Samaritan reality described in books XI to XIII of Jewish Antiquities by Josephus. Thus interpreted, it can be recognized as a major theological work, with which the Gospel according to St. Matthew had to enter into dialogue. |
