The study of the persons involved in the transactions will take into account the question of their identity, from several points of view: gender (male and female are involved), social status (poor people are given to the rich fTulpun-naya as security for debts), legal status (fTulpun-naya is the owner of several slaves), ethnicity (Nullu men and women are mentioned), etc. This article is an attempt to examine these different categories, and the way they interfere: each person has several identities, which are more or less significant according to circumstances, and to the relations to others persons of the archive. |
