Description
Summary:17 It must be clarified that for many who study the history of theology, "the expression academic theology is artificial and denotes an alienated form of learned or university theology. * * * Orthodox dogmatics must have the truth of the Gospel in its universality and the life in Christ in its wholeness as its unshakeable foundation if it would truly aspire to be the exact exposition of the Orthodox faith, if it would seek to interpret the theology and experience of the ecclesial body in its wholeness. Especially if by this term we mean either a self-contained, self-sufficient version of theology, or something that could take the place of the theology of the Church. dogmatics, in order to truly be of the Orthodox Church, must be, without exception, in accordance with and follow from the whole of the Church's theology, without losing its academic character in any way. It must be clarified that I have chosen to use the terms "theology of the Church" and "ecclesial theology" in this paper because they are more precise than "charismatic theology."
