Итог: | SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of COVID-19, represents that latest challenge in the long history of vaccine development and deployment. The pathway out of the current pandemic due to this virus requires a sufficient number of the population developing immune resistance such that herd immunity results. Finding a safe and efficacious vaccine is the most compassionate route of exit, compared to natural infection leading to unwanted fatalities of the most susceptible. As a result, vaccine acceptance might be looked on as one form of obeying the Second Great Commandment: Love thy neighbor as thyself. |
