| Summary: | The essay is a plea for ending the hunt for the message inscribed into the final shaping of the Psalter. After the psalms had to suffer from exaggerated form-critical categorisation and other approaches, the Psalter is not in need of having its content labelled with inadequate generalising terms. The complexity of the psalms does not favour this approach. Instead, the psalms are waiting to be appreciated as textual individuals and each psalm as part of its special position in a manageable cluster of texts. In view of the Psalter as a whole the predominance of petition and praise, manifest in the title Tehillim, deserves closer theological attention. L’article est un plaidoyer pour la cessation de la chasse à l’intention de la forme finale du Psautier. Suite aux catégorisations exagérées de la critique des formes et d’autres approches, le psautier n’a pas besoin qu’on lui appose d’autres étiquettes généralisantes. L’analyse ne suggère pas une telle approche et la démarche méthodique ne convainc pas. On attend encore une prise en compte du caractère singulier de chaque psaume ainsi que le décèlement de l’intention souvent reconnaissable de la compilation d’un ensemble appréciable de textes. Concernant le psautier dans sa totalité, la prédominance du motif de la prière et de la louange dans le titre de »Tehilim« méritent une attention théologique plus précise. Dieser Beitrag ist ein Plädoyer, die Jagd nach der Aussageabsicht des Psalters in seiner Endgestalt aufzugeben. Nach den übertriebenen Kategorisierungen des formgeschichtlichen Zugangs und anderer Methoden müssen dem Psalter nicht auch noch generalisierende Etikettierungen aufgedrückt werden. Weder der Befund legt dies nahe, noch überzeugt das methodische Vorgehen. Die Wahrnehmung der Individualität eines jeden Psalms und die häufig erkennbare Absicht der Zusammenstellung überschaubarer Textgruppen warten auf Erhellung. Wenn es um den Psalter als Ganzheit geht, verdienen die Dominanz der Bitte und der Titel Tehillim der theologischen Würdigung. |
