Summary: | There are many beatifications, canonizations, and other various actions connected with the Teresian Carmel family, on the part of John Paul II, such as having declared Teresa of the Child Jesus a Doctor of the Church and Edith Stein as co-patron of Europe. For all these graces, the Carmelite Order cannot fail to be grateful to him, but, with the exception of the declaration of one other of her Holy Doctors of the Church - also other Orders can make dissimilar claims and perhaps even more numerous and significant. What seems exclusive, in that it does not concern this Pope only in the exercise of his ministry, but all of his life, is his Carmelite soul, marked since his childhood.
