Trying to bear in mind his vast production, he focuses firstly on some of the speeches he gave at the beginning of his pontificate and then on the main documents he dedicated to the theme. Thus the relationship between vocation, consecration and a witness is illustrated, and then, the ecclesial dimension of consecrated life, with aspects that John Paul II most recalled: fidelity to the Church, the importance of consecrated life and its precise relationship to other vocations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] L'articolo evidenzia gli elementi più caratteristici del magistero di Giovanni Paolo II sulla vita consacrata, inquadrandoli nell'insieme del suo pensiero e della riflessione dell'epoca. Cercando di tener presente la sua vastissima produzione, si concentra dapprima su alcuni discorsi che tenne all'inizio del pontificato e poi sui principali documenti che dedicò al tema. Viene così illustrato il rapporto tra vocazione, consacrazione e testimonianza e, poi, la dimensione ecclesiale della vita consacrata, con gli aspetti che Giovanni Paolo II ha maggiormente richiamato: la fedeltà alla Chiesa, l'importanza della vita consacrata e la sua specificità in rapporto alle altre vocazioni.
