| Summary: | Natural phenomena and the human responsibility in them constitute some of the main concerns at the socio-political and, also, ecclesial level. The article studies the numerous extraordinary natural phenomena found in Matthew's gospel, while analyzing those who are presented by the author as witnesses to these events. The choice of these eyewitnesses and their interpretation of such wonders enable the evangelist to emphasize certain theological aspects, especially Christological ones, which are key to him: Jesus is the Son of God, The God-with-us, the expected Emmanuel. Something that, in turn, contains clear ecclesiological and ethical repercussions. Los fenómenos naturales y la responsabilidad humana ante ellos constituyen algunas de las principales preocupaciones a nivel socio-político y, también, eclesial. El artículo estudia los numerosos fenómenos naturales extraordinarios que se hallan en el evangelio de Mateo, al tiempo que analiza a quienes son presentados por el autor como testigos de estos sucesos. La elección de dichos testigos oculares y la interpretación que estos realizan de tales prodigios posibilitan al evangelista subrayar determinados aspectos teológicos, especialmente cristológicos, que son claves para él: Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, el Dios-con-nosotros, el Emmanuel esperado. Algo que, a su vez, contiene claras repercusiones eclesiológicas y éticas. |
