Description
Summary:The article provides an overview of the last fifty years of research concerning the history of the Greek Church in Sicily from the sixth to the fifteenth century. Particular attention is paid to the publication of unpublished, or recently discovered, sources: theological, liturgical, hagiographic and hymn texts composed and copied there (together with palaeographic investigations into manuscript dissemination and the geographical locations of scriptoria), archival documents, inscriptions and lead seals. Some brief reference has also been made to the construction of churches for the Greek rite, and to their decoration.
