Die Ikonographie ihres umfangreichen Reliefschmucks erlaubt Rückschlüsse auf Bedarf und Formen sepulkraler Repräsentation einer zu Wohlstand gelangten Familie in einer Region vielfältiger Kulturkontakte. Der Autor hat die Reliefs vor ihrer Gefährdung durch den bewaffneten Konflikt in Syrien fotografisch dokumentiert und erforscht. This contribution deals with the famous tomb of Abedrapsas at Frikya, Northern Syria, from the early 4th century AD. The iconography of its elaborate relief decoration allows conclusions regarding the demand and forms of sepulchral representation of a family which had achieved affluence in a region of manifold cultural contacts. The author has documented the relief decorations by photographs and analysed them in the time before they were in danger because of the armed conflict in Syria. |
