Description
Summary:The discussion between Gestrich and Pannenberg about a contemporary hamartiology is marked by a difference in philosophy of science, along with broad similarities in content. The difference between the two dogmatic theologians is based on a contrary assessment of dialectical theology. Pannenberg developed his theological anthropology in dialogue with the natural sciences. This led to the suspicion that he wanted to verify theological statements in an empirical way. Thereby it was overlooked that Pannenberg’s epistemology was that of critical rationalism: In his Wissenschaftstheorie und Theologie he translated the affirmative statements of faith into the language of epistemology in order to bring faith’s claim to truth into dialogue with the contemporary accounts of truth.
