Description
Summary:The public regards clerical masculinity as a 'different sort' of masculinity, and this can also be seen in its media portrayals. This article investigates the historical origin and development of clerical masculinity from early Christianity to the present. Part II analyses the justification in systematic theology of the 'otherness' of clerical masculinity, using as a basis the documents of the Second Vatican Council. Finally the article asks what effects the particular definition of clerical masculinity has, and whether it can survive in the conditions of our time.
