Summary:In recent years in Italy, the number of requests for international protection based on religious reasons has increased. The article discusses the case of Chinese refugees from The Church of Almighty God, a Christian new religious movement severely persecuted in China. Based on interviews conducted with lawyers, social workers, and Chinese refugees themselves, an attempt was made at reconstructing the situation of these asylum seekers after the recent changes in Italian law.
