| Summary: | This article sheds new light on some literary features of 1Sam 3. It begins by supporting the conventional chapter division of the MT by showing that 4,1a, which is often assumed as a summarizing end of chapter 3, holds an introductory function to chapter 4. It also specifies the commonly accepted concentric structure of the chapter by separating and, therefore, highlighting the speech of God in V.11-14. In com-bination with an analysis of the interpersonal communication between God, Samuel and Eli this reveals a strong dynamic towards the word of God that after a long period without having been heard, can again be conveyed through the newly established prophet Samuel. Besides these formal aspects, the article, furthermore, provides a threefold overview of narrative functions that are employed to place 1Sam 3 in the greater narrative context of 1-2 Sam and to establish a strong connection between Moses and Samuel. Dieser Artikel betrachtet einige strukturelle und erzählerische Aspekte von 1Sam 3 aus einem neuen Blickwinkel. Bezüglich des Problems der Abgrenzung sprechen mehr Gründe dafür, mit MT 4,1a als Überschrift und Beginn von 1Sam 4 anzusehen, und nicht als Ende der Berufung Samuels. Viele sehen den Aufbau von 1Sam 3 als konzentrisch an. Die Gliederung des Mittelteils scheint aber nur dann richtig erfasst, wenn V.11-14 mit der Gottesrede als Zentrum des Kapitels wahrgenommen wird. Dafür spricht auch die Analyse der Kommunikation der handelnden Personen mit ihrer Dynamik hin zu Gottes Wort. Zu diesen Aspekten tritt eine dreifache Funktion von 1Sam 3 im Kontext der Samuelbücher, die insbesondere die Parallelen zwischen Mose und Samuel und von Letzterem mit David neu sehen lässt sowie Samuel von Anfang an als hörbereiten, einsatzwilligen, treuen Diener JHWHs charakterisiert. |
