Summary: | In the context of systematic-theological considerations, prayer has - with a few exceptions - largely led a shadowy existence. Yet that people pray is a widespread practice in most religions. So what motivates them to pray? And what are their expectations? This essay attempts to analyse prayer as the special form of communication it is and to relate it to the question of God's ministry in the world: prayer and the doctrine of God are mutually dependent on one another. Rounding off from this perspective, the problem of answering prayer is reflected on and answered. |
