Description
Summary:The contemporary environmental movement, in spite of the controversy generated by its socio-political pretension, its systemic proposal and its eclectic spirituality, does not necessarily have to come into conflict with the Christian faith. On the contrary, in the last decades the environmental movement has been an incentive, a revulsive and a historical opportunity to return to theological sources, to deepen the meaning of the sacramental tradition, to recover a relational anthropology, to rediscover a mysticism of praise for the Creator, to rehabilitate the category of sacrifice, and to expand the ethical horizon of Christian social thought. Likewise, in the dialogue between theology and ecology, Christianity can make a valuable contribution that corrects some of the ideological excesses of the environmental movement.
