Description
Summary:This essay is a revision of the author's response to a paper entitled "Mary's Spirituality for Women in the Church in China" by Chen Qirui. Chen uses a theocentric biblical interpretation of the Magnificat to examine three qualities of Mary's spirituality, namely, brave self-determination, historical responsibility and prophetic message of liberation. It counter-proposes three life-transforming theological themes that may be integrated into the spiritual life of Asian women: sense of self-worth based on the fatherhood of God, faith in the God of history who keeps promises, and readiness to give thanks and celebrate God's mighty deeds.
