Description
Summary:Contemporary Catholic and Orthodox apparitional and visionary texts constitute a relatively unexplored field for religious studies. While scholarly attention has chiefly been devoted to the context and ramifications of apparitions, relatively little attention has been directed to the study of their textual outcome—the transcriptions of the alleged supernatural messages. Yet these form an important part of the contemporary apparitional sub-culture, as they have global circulation thanks to the help of modern mass media. One part of True Life in God, a corpus of such texts, is chosen for analysis in this article. The topic dealt with is the notion of a pilgrimage or retreat within the body of Jesus.
