Description
Summary:By means of organising titles and conclusive sentences of degrees, the present study introduces the analysis of the structure of John Climacus' book of the Ladder of Divine Ascent. These textual elements that frame each discourse of John of Sinai and chain them in thirty steps are indeed essential in the construction of the Scala. This article is an attempt to trace its textual history through paleographic and philological approaches and to present the first critical edition of these "structuring pieces".
