| Summary: | Tackling the issue of Old Testament Anthropology, the article presents a short overview of the research from the midst of the 19th century up to the intensive debates in the last 20 years. It shows how the efforts towards Old Testament and Hebrew Bible anthropol-ogical understanding are nowadays interwoven with cultural studies and historical anthropology. In more detail the second part of the article discusses the approach of Christian Frevel and the recently published Anthropology of Bernd Janowski. On this background the third part elaborates both on the challenges and op-portunities of contemporary research in the area of Anthropol-ogie(s) of the Old Testament thereby outlining van Oorschot’s own approach. Key aspects are (1) an Anthropology in Redaction-History differentiation, (2) Explicit and Implicit Anthropology, (3) Anthropology as a test sit for interdisciplinary work. |
